Sustainable Sites (SS), Water Efficiency (WE) & Energy and Atmosphere (EA)

SS Credit 3: Brownfield Re-development

The intent of this credit is the rehabilitation of damaged sites where development is complicated by real or perceived contamination, which in turn reduces pressure on undeveloped land. Site remediation plans; treating off-site or on-site, bioreactors, farming, etc, may accomplish this.

  • PERMINATOR underslab vapor barrier can be used on sites that are (or perceived to be) contaminated with radon gas.

SS Credit 6.1: Storm Water Design: Quality Control

To meet the requirements for this credit a project team must limit disruption by reducing pervious cover, and reducing pollution and eliminating contaminants from storm water runoff.
  • MEL-DRAIN can be used as part of a complete storm water management program to direct rainwater and storm water to specific areas.

SS Credit 6.2: Storm Water Design: Quality Control

To meet the requirements for this credit a project team must limit disruption and pollution of natural water flows by managing storm water runoff, promoting on site to reduce pollutants.
  • MEL-DRAIN can be used as part of a complete storm water management program to direct rainwater and storm water to specific areas.

WE Credit 1.1: Water Efficient Landscaping - Reduce by 50%

The intent of this credit is to limit the use of potable water or other natural water sources for landscape irrigation.
  • MEL-DRAIN can be used as part of a complete water management program to direct rainwater and storm water to areas that can be used to store the water, which can later be used for landscape irrigation.

WE Credit 1.2: Water Efficient Landscaping - No Potable Water Use or No Irrigation

The intent of this credit is to eliminate the use of potable water or other natural water sources, for landscape irrigations or to install landscaping, which will not need irrigation systems.
  • MEL-DRAIN can be used as part of a complete water management program to direct rainwater and storm water to areas that can be used to store the water, which can later be used for landscape irrigation.

EA Credit 1: Optimize Energy Performance

The intent of this credit is to achieve increasing levels of energy performance above the baseline in the prerequisite standard to reduce environmental and economic impacts associated with excessive energy use.
Project teams may contribute to the number of points accumulated in this category by using W. R. MEADOWS´ air-vapor barriers and vapor retarders to optimize energy performance. W. R. MEADOWS´ thermal and moisture protection products play a key role in maintaining the structure´s energy efficiency and aiding in the integrity of other structural systems, such as insulation. The use of the following products can contribute to reduced energy consumption within a building:
  • PERMINATOR
  • PMPC
  • AIR-SHIELD
  • AIR-SHIELD LM
  • AIR-SHIELD LM (ALL SEASON)
  • AIR-SHIELD LMP
